NanoVNA Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers to common questions regarding the NanoVNA V2 (S-A-A-2), VNA6000, and how to ensure you are using official hardware.

General & Hardware

What is the difference between the unbranded NanoVNAs and the V2 (S-A-A-2)?

The NanoVNA V2 (S-A-A-2) is a completely new hardware architecture designed by NanoRFE. Unlike the legacy V1 edy555 design which was limited to 300MHz (fundamental) or 900MHz (harmonics), the V2 uses dual ADF4350 4.4GHz synthesizers to achieve higher frequencies and better dynamic range.

How accurate is the NanoVNA compared to professional lab equipment?

For most amateur and hobbyist applications, the NanoVNA V2 performs exceptionally close to benchtop units. Independent comparisons by experts (such as DD1US) show that the V2 holds its own against professional VNAs like the HP-8753E.
