Beware of cheap underperforming clones

As of 2023 there are many badly performing clones on the market. V2/3GHz NanoVNA uses parts like ADF4350 and AD8342 which are costly and clones have been cutting costs by using salvaged or reject parts.

See official store and look for V2 Plus4/V2 Plus4 Pro versions only to avoid getting a bad clone. We have stopped selling V2.2 versions since October 2020, so all V2 hardware that are not Plus or Plus4 are not made by us and we can not guarantee performance.

using V2 plus 4 Pro for waveguide

HV Systems 2023/04/24 16:32

Hello All

Can any one help us and guide as to how we can use nanoVNA QT and/or Saver
software for s parameter measurements of waveguide (WR284) component?

We have hired WR284 waveguide calibration kit with two waveguide to coaxial
adapters, two offsets shorts (1/8 & 3/8), and fixed Termination (load) for
SSLT calibration type. We have information on cut off frequency and lengths
of these offset shorts, however, there is no provision in software(s) to
utilize them for precise measurements.

Please guide and help.

Thank you

Sincerely

Vishal

Your best bet is to calibrate the VNA at the coax connectors (with test
port cables). Do your measurements, and do the coax/WG conversion
calculations using some other software.

The NanoVNAs are sort of "coax 50 ohm" devices - that's what you get for
a $100 instrument.

However, if you want:
https://www.kirkbymicrowave.co.uk/Support/FAQ/How-do-I-perform-waveguide-calibration/
https://coppermountaintech.com/waveguide-calibration-of-copper-mountain-technologies-vnas/

both of these assume that the software supports entry of the WG Cal kit
parameters. The NanoVNA does not, I can't speak to NanoVNA2.
