Dear programmers,
at SAWLab Saxony, a competence center at the German Leibniz IFW in Dresden, we investigate acoustic wave devices in the frequency range of 1 MHz to several GHz. I recently obtained a NanoVNA v2 Plus 4 and found it to be a great portable device for rf component analysis in research.
However, a very critical point is missing for that: The possibility to save recorded datasets using the QT-Software (ideal in .s1p or .s2p file format in Real/Imaginary or Magnitude/Phase format). Could you please implement this in one of the next software versions?
By the way, the newest firmware (20220301) seems to be currently not working with the NanoVNA Saver (which I personally find less intuitive than the QT)...
Thanks and best regards, Andreas
Beware of cheap underperforming clones
As of 2022 there are many badly performing clones on the market. V2/3GHz NanoVNA uses parts like ADF4350 and AD8342 which are costly and clones have been cutting costs by using salvaged or reject parts.
See official store and look for V2 Plus4/V2 Plus4 Pro versions only to avoid getting a bad clone. We have stopped selling V2.2 versions since October 2020, so all V2 hardware that are not Plus or Plus4 are not made by us and we can not guarantee performance.

Wish for added feature: Saving data using the NanoVNA-QT Software

There's also some standalone python command line utilities like
nanovna.py. I don't know if there's an equivalent for the NanoVNA2
(different serial data protocol), but it is great if all you need to do
is "get .s1p data for one sweep" and don't need the GUI.
Hello Andreas,
maybe you are doing something wrong, but I can confirm, that V2+4 works for me with NanoVna SAVER without any problem, as my second V2 as well. Saving in Touchstone s1p and s2p works too there. So search for the newest firmware and newest version of the Saver.

Dear OK1VAW,
it is indeed not working with the VNA V2 Plus5 firmware (the latest and unstable one, according to https://nanorfe.com/nanovna-versions.html. The latest stable version works, however, I found other issues with it.
Also, the NanoVNA-App works fine with it and allows data storage in the right format. @DiSlord: Would it be possible to increase the number of points - limit in the software for the device?
