Beware of cheap underperforming clones

As of 2023 there are many badly performing clones on the market. V2/3GHz NanoVNA uses parts like ADF4350 and AD8342 which are costly and clones have been cutting costs by using salvaged or reject parts.

See official store and look for V2 Plus4/V2 Plus4 Pro versions only to avoid getting a bad clone. We have stopped selling V2.2 versions since October 2020, so all V2 hardware that are not Plus or Plus4 are not made by us and we can not guarantee performance.

NanoVNA V2 Plus4 -NOT PRO- FIRMWARE WITH CRYSTAL QUARZ MESUREMENTS

Loris Bollina 2024/10/09 07:33

HELLO ... HELP !
HI...HELP!
Can anyone tell me if there is a firmware for the NanoVNA V2 Plus4 (BUT NOT PRO) that allows the measurement of the characteristics of quartz crystals?
THANKS TO ALL IN ADVANCE!

The best I know, you need the PRO to have the ability to measure crystals. The Plus 4 does not have the bandwidth filters in it.

ok thanks, the information was already known!

I read about a firmware that allows the measurement of quartz crystals on previous NanoVNA models, when I purchased the mine, the PRO version, did not exist, so I'm looking for a firmware that allows you to do at least what the old versions of NanoVNA do with that firmware I read about!

thanks, best regards from IW4AJR Loris

What is the goal of your crystal measurements?  Depending on what you’re trying to do and what other tools you have you might already have what you need to make your measurement.  It’s possible to build a test oscillator with an inverting logic gate and a few Rs and Cs and if you have an SDR (SDRPlay etc.) or communications receiver that supports narrow bandwidths and has decent frequency accuracy you can find out what you need to know.

Hi Jim,
I have many other instruments to make measurements on quartz crystals, but they are bulky and cumbersome to use (tek 492 + Traking) or even HP RF generators and Bolometer, but also an excellent HP vector voltmeter, in practice I am already able to make accurate measurements, I am looking for a simple and portable method to make at least summary measurements ... and speed up the experimentation ...
Thanks anyway for the answer and a warm greeting ...
