Beware of cheap underperforming clones

As of 2022 there are many badly performing clones on the market. V2/3GHz NanoVNA uses parts like ADF4350 and AD8342 which are costly and clones have been cutting costs by using salvaged or reject parts.

See official store and look for V2 Plus4/V2 Plus4 Pro versions only to avoid getting a bad clone. We have stopped selling V2.2 versions since October 2020, so all V2 hardware that are not Plus or Plus4 are not made by us and we can not guarantee performance.

NanoSaver and W8.1?

Matt Thomas W5MT 2022/08/20 14:16

I've been using NanoVNA-qt.  It's nice but I feel there are more display features out there; maybe not.  I downloaded NanoSaver but I am unable to open it.  I'm using Windows 8.1 on this laptop.  I thought I read somewhere that this program worked with W7+, but then I also read somewhere else that this program worked with only W10+.  So, W8.1, yay or nah?

All may be moot, I'm getting end of service messages about W8.1 from MS, so I may be forced to W10 or 11 in January.

TIA for reading

Matt,

There was a free update offered from 8.1 to 10. I believe there is still a way
of doing that upgrade, so search the Internet before paying.

One example:

Again David, thank you.  I need to research again the subject of obtaining W10 for free.  I looked around a couple of years ago, but never really found anything with "no strings attached".  I'll check out your link.  In the end, I may have to look for a newer laptop instead (with W10 already).  The one in the shack has got to be nearing 10 years in age and is showing signs of decreasing speed as the RAM is starting to "borrow" more and more of the HD to process data.  It's possible I may not be able to load W10 on the machine with any viable use afterwards.

Thanks again!
