Beware of cheap underperforming clones

As of 2023 there are many badly performing clones on the market. V2/3GHz NanoVNA uses parts like ADF4350 and AD8342 which are costly and clones have been cutting costs by using salvaged or reject parts.

See official store and look for V2 Plus4/V2 Plus4 Pro versions only to avoid getting a bad clone. We have stopped selling V2.2 versions since October 2020, so all V2 hardware that are not Plus or Plus4 are not made by us and we can not guarantee performance.

Which FW for V2 plus4?

Charles Luther, N8DD 2024/01/21 12:52

Just received nanoVNA v2 plus 4 from Tindie. I upgraded to the stable FW 20211227, and this led to spurious data on smith chart and SWR traces using the calibration standards following a calibration. However, I then switched to latest FW 20220814, and it worked fine and I get good data and traces with known antennas I have. I then switched back to FW 20211227, and the same problem occurred.

Is FW 20211227 defective? Why is it giving me obviously erratic and false traces while FW 20220814 works fine?

I did not take note of FW that it shipped with...I wish I did.

Thanks,
Charlie

Hi, the firmware 20220814 is stable and is the minimum recommended version. Older firmwares may not work correctly with new devices.
Thanks,

Hello @nanov2support,
in a previous post you declare that a new firmware should be released in October 2023 but nothing has been released yet.
Did you have a now release date ?

Thanks
Arrio
