Beware of cheap underperforming clones

As of 2023 there are many badly performing clones on the market. V2/3GHz NanoVNA uses parts like ADF4350 and AD8342 which are costly and clones have been cutting costs by using salvaged or reject parts.

See official store and look for V2 Plus4/V2 Plus4 Pro versions only to avoid getting a bad clone. We have stopped selling V2.2 versions since October 2020, so all V2 hardware that are not Plus or Plus4 are not made by us and we can not guarantee performance.

VARIABILITY OVER TIME AND TEMPERATURE

W4JDY1953_G 2024/07/19 22:51

Question: Has anyone measured the accuracy of this unit over time measuring
the same DUT?

Also, how sensitive is this unit under temperature extremes?

Hi, there is a video showing drift over time of the VNA6000 when warming up from cold: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GxSWYBd888M
We haven't yet made a video for the V2 Plus4, but if I remember correctly it is similar up to 3GHz, then worsens after 3.5GHz.
Thanks

IDK, but I've used the same single 401 point calibration over 3MHz to 30MHz for two years measuring HF antennas and the calibration hasn't consequentially changed in my use.  I can measure the SOLs and get the same thing I got initially.

Hi, here's the V2 Plus4 measuring an open circuit after a 10 minute warm up. Calibration was performed when the device is cold.
Thanks

Thanks much … this is useful for my intended purposes for this device.

Same here …. Hence my original calibration question that received flack, but then the other responses sent to me were the same as your observations.

Thanks to all who were so kind in answering my question.

I left my device on for 14 days and noted the same calibration curves; so stability under normal operating conditions seems assured.

Took a RF attenuator and dumb loads and did what we used to do for sonobuoy receiver calibrations … nothing was gained except at the extreme high-end of frequencies where the connectors I knew were not designed for and skin effects take over.

So overall, these devices are good enough for “government” work so to speak.
