I've done a lot of research and narrowed down my next VNA to the Nanovna V2 Plus 4,
My only options are from Aliexpress or eBay as the law changed in 2021 regarding VAT and if that is not charged at the time of purchase.
it will cost me lots of extra charges from the courier/customs and processing/admin fees. So Tindie is not possible for me as it could end up costing over £300
I saw this on Aliexpress and want to know if it is genuine or not.

Or eBay UK
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284 516558167 ( https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/284516558167 ) ?
Do clones of this version actually exist?
Many thanks
Dale
Beware of cheap underperforming clones
As of 2022 there are many badly performing clones on the market. V2/3GHz NanoVNA uses parts like ADF4350 and AD8342 which are costly and clones have been cutting costs by using salvaged or reject parts.
See official store and look for V2 Plus4/V2 Plus4 Pro versions only to avoid getting a bad clone. We have stopped selling V2.2 versions since October 2020, so all V2 hardware that are not Plus or Plus4 are not made by us and we can not guarantee performance.

UK based and Want to buy a Nanovna V2 Plus 4, is Aliexpress or eBay safe?
There are no clones of the V2 Plus4 as far as I know, but the customs handling fee shouldn't be that high. If you select the slower shipping option it is handed off to your postal service in your country, and you may also try asking the seller to declare a lower value.

Hi OwO,
Many thanks for your reply, that is reassuring there are no clones that you know of as I want to buy the right one and support you and the others that are involved with this device.
The problem is there are multiple fees and we can get hit with a stack of them, I have no issue paying VAT/Customs fees but it's all the processing, administration, transport and brokerage fees they add on top. There is a whole list of them and they know you will pay it because you want the item.
The law was changed to stop this, but if anything it has made the situation worse. Even our own postal service applies a handling fee if they have to collect the VAT/Custom duty.
Anything that is under £135 has the VAT processed by the seller and then there are no further fees when it enters in to the UK.
I hear that EU countries also are also experiencing something similar.
I will try the Aliexpress or Ebay seller and report back here when it arrives.
I would not trust ebay, Amazon, or Alliexpress on getting original products
and not clones, especially the first two!

I agree, Dave.
My NanoVNA V2 plus came via Tindie, and importing it to the UK (I think
via the postal system) didn't incur any extra charges.

However, in the UK at least, Amazon has an excellent refund and returns policy.

Tindie is a good supplier. My last order was from them. Sure, it took
3-weeks, but I got a genuine unit and not a clone.

I've purchased from Aliexpress. Their shipping is as slow and painful as it gets.
Best of Luck
