I have had the Nanovna V2 (from the Tindie store) for two or three months and
it has been a wonderful little tool.
However on powering up today the initial screen seemed different (no circle on
Smith chart, no phase ramps).
After calibration the Ch0 traces are extremely noisy and essentially unusable.
Ch1 seems to be more or less ok.
Can anyone help with suggestions? Is there a way of restoring factory defaults
or something similar?
I am attaching some photos with file names which should be self explanatory.
If a firmware fix is needed I have a Win 10 PC only.
Any assistance is much appreciated.

Beware of cheap underperforming clones
As of 2022 there are many badly performing clones on the market. V2/3GHz NanoVNA uses parts like ADF4350 and AD8342 which are costly and clones have been cutting costs by using salvaged or reject parts.
See official store and look for V2 Plus4/V2 Plus4 Pro versions only to avoid getting a bad clone. We have stopped selling V2.2 versions since October 2020, so all V2 hardware that are not Plus or Plus4 are not made by us and we can not guarantee performance.

Noisy / erratic display. Firmware or hardware problem?
What does the S21 trace look like with a cable connected between the two
ports, uncalibrated?
Thanks for the quick response.
This is a pic with the two ports connected before any calibration is performed. Also the msg log if that is of any significance.
i would guess to check your cables ... looks like a dead short to me??
return loss 1 db??
thru value - 22db?
a short on the cable ... maybe a thin wire crept in into a connector
(check cables and also sma sockets!!)

Looks like port 1 has a short. Try removing the shield can under port 1
and check for shorts. It's also possible the ECAL switch is shorted (ESD
damage etc).
hmm when i compare both screens they are almost identical (port open and
port connected to s21 port)
no change in smith ... guessing a short on port 0 ??

Thanks for the suggestions. That doesn't sound great.
Can anyone point me to a schematic of the board in a readily viewable format (pdf of some such)?
And can anyone tell me if these units from the Tindie store have any warranty? I had hoped to get more than 2 -3 months use out of it!
Thanks again.

You can try "contact seller" on the Tindie page.
Hello,
in the schematics the processor is reported as *STM32F103C8/CB LQFP48* , but then also as Device= *GD32F303CCT6*
I think they are different processors (STM model has 20 KB SRAM 128 KB Flash, GD model has 48 KB SRAM, 256 KB Flash, no SDIO, etc.). Which one is finally used?
Best Regards, Marco.
as far as i know we all have the gd model ...
