Nanovna Brick

Lars Harms 2020/06/27 07:19

Hello everyone,
i am not sure about which firmware to use with my Nanovna saa2. I tried to
upgrade it via Dfu, but now it is a brick.

Using the ST Link V2 ends in a download error. The device is found by the
programmer and he is trying to download the file but at the end there is a
segment 0 error. I used the version from the link, which points to the
latest release.

Where can i find the V2.2 file for the device ? This was the version, which
was originally on the device. But i was unable to use the nanovna saver
software.

At the moment i am little bit confused, this is not my first Stm 32 i want
to program...

Best regards

Lars

DFU upload should be safe, it's not possible to overwrite the bootloader
by DFU upload. If the upload fails you can just retry it.

If you use SWD to flash the firmware, it must be flashed to address
0x08004000. You will need to reflash the bootloader at 0x08000000. You
can find the bootloader binary.bin here:

i also had no luck with nanovna saver but vna-qt works fine

and that is also what i used for upgrading ...

press left button and switch on (while connected to pc)

fire up vna-qt and select the device (the correct comport)

it will ask if you wanna update firmware

press yes

select file

easy as baking cakes

if you have a normal (small) display then take the ili9341 version

.............................................

and here you find the pc software

https://github.com/nanovna/NanoVNA-QT/releases

take the vna-qt-windows zip ... unzip in a folder on your pc

done

Thanks alot. Pointing me to the Bootloader, which i messed up was the right hint. Flashed it and afterwards flashed the Firmware with the nanovna QT.

No more brick, only fun with my new toy.

Great work guys.
