Beware of cheap underperforming clones

As of 2022 there are many badly performing clones on the market. V2/3GHz NanoVNA uses parts like ADF4350 and AD8342 which are costly and clones have been cutting costs by using salvaged or reject parts.

See official store and look for V2 Plus4/V2 Plus4 Pro versions only to avoid getting a bad clone. We have stopped selling V2.2 versions since October 2020, so all V2 hardware that are not Plus or Plus4 are not made by us and we can not guarantee performance.

NanoVna V2 V2Plus V2Plus 4 comparison chart explanation needed

Hi all, can somenone explain to me the values inside this screenshot chart from NanoRfe webpage ?
How can I have 90dB of dynamic range with a noise floor at -50dB?

Maybe I missed something somewhere.

Patrice,
The -50dB noise floor is on the S11 (reflection) measurement, while the 90dB dynamic range probably refers to the S21 (transmission) measurement.

s11 noise floor ... is different as s21 noise^floor

on s11 you measure return loss ... that also depends on directivity of
the bridge etc ...

on s21 you measure through loss (say over a filter or attenuator) ...
and there dynamic range depends on how much "port leaking" you have (how
much "noise" couples from port 0 to port 1) ... so ... its normal to see
different values for s11 and s21 dynamic range

.... those numbers in real are a bit better as the values presented in
the table ... you can see near 10 db better values in real ... the
values in the table are MINIMUM values ... but on my own v2plus4 i see
over 100 db below 1 gig ... over 90 db at 23cm and 85 db on 13cm (s21
dynamic range) ...

so now a bit clear why you see different values in the table?!?
