Beware of cheap underperforming clones

As of 2023 there are many badly performing clones on the market. V2/3GHz NanoVNA uses parts like ADF4350 and AD8342 which are costly and clones have been cutting costs by using salvaged or reject parts.

See official store and look for V2 Plus4/V2 Plus4 Pro versions only to avoid getting a bad clone. We have stopped selling V2.2 versions since October 2020, so all V2 hardware that are not Plus or Plus4 are not made by us and we can not guarantee performance.

NanoVNA Measurement Issue #v2

melih.akalin 2024/06/05 00:41

Hi Dear All,

We have an many of the issue with NANOVNAF-V2 and need to support from your side. First of all I want to share with you our's product information.

Hardware: Rev.C
Firmware v0.5.0
Build time: Jun 24 2022
Velocıty Factor: %70
Mode: Bandpass

1) We made a calibration with OSL connectors( Short, Open and Load). After the calibration, we change the cable(Cable is original one) with UMCC one and made a electrical delay. the result was not okey.(you can see the every steps image below)  Depend on a that issue RF Demo kit's results not matched.

2) After that issue I did recalibrate the device with cable and over the RF demo kit's OSL port. The result wasn't change.

*Note* : After the calibration, I tried to verify and there isn't any issue. Resistive measurement is ok but the capacitive and inductive measurement is really bad.

Where am I made an fault?

Is there anyone live that issue?

The cable used to perform the calibration is a component in the calibration
and must mot be temoved.

How do you know the cable is good?

Calibrate at port 1 of the VNA

Attach the cable under test to VNA port 1, terminate the cable with the short,
and measure the reflection coefficient magnitude in dB.

An ideal cable will measure 0 dB independent of frequency. For a non ideal
cable the cable loss will be one half the measured reflection coefficient in
dB, at each frequency.

I hope this helps.

I see your <FORMAT S11><SMITH> is not set to <R+jX>
I wonder if this is three cause of the confusion.
