Beware of cheap underperforming clones

As of 2022 there are many badly performing clones on the market. V2/3GHz NanoVNA uses parts like ADF4350 and AD8342 which are costly and clones have been cutting costs by using salvaged or reject parts.

See official store and look for V2 Plus4/V2 Plus4 Pro versions only to avoid getting a bad clone. We have stopped selling V2.2 versions since October 2020, so all V2 hardware that are not Plus or Plus4 are not made by us and we can not guarantee performance.

hwalker 2020/07/27 04:55

The attached was posted on www.eevblog.com .

The attachment announces an unofficial release of NanoVNA-QT from the mdkendall branch at https://github.com/mdkendall/NanoVNA-QT/releases/tag/20200723 .

Release Notes:

- Main chart frequency axis has ten divisions (was unconventional nine)
- Improvements to Sweep Parameters dialog:
- Fix error in displayed frequency step
- More convenient default number of points
- Allow setting start/stop or center/span frequencies
- Show frequencies to 1kHz resolution (remove spurious decimal places)
- Disable inapplicable output power setting
- Fix problems with building for Windows

The release is only for Windows, but the source is all there for anyone wants to build for Linux or Mac.

Hi Herb,

Using the "original" one I can see and move marker 0 [zero] and 1, on this
release I can't see it. Could you please confirm it? Or is it only on my
side?

Cheers and thanks fo sharing.

Hi Luis
I see both marker 0 and 1 with data. However it took some time to get Windows Defender to give up and let me run the application. There was many files which was regarding as "dangerous"
Kind regards
Kurt

Luís,
I just tried adding 3 markers and placing them. Like Kurt, I had no issues moving or seeing the markers.

I appreciate the option of using start and stop frequency, or center frequency and span. Since the power level is not settable on the V2, disabling that setting is helpful to new users - probably should have just eliminated that setting unless a future enhancement is planned.

Kendall's changes are all cosmetic as far as I have observed. His contribution is appreciated.

If you continue to experience marker issues you should post an issue report at Kendall's GitHub.

Hello,

Thank you both for the inputs.

I had to run the vna-QT twice then I got the 0 and 1 markers available.
Maybe a glitch on my side.

Indeed cosmetical, but welcome changes.

Hi,

New to this forum and quite new to the nanoVNA.

What is the difference between the Softwares? Why are there 2 different 'branches' ?

If one would like suggest improvements, new features in the Win10 SW where do you do that ?
