Beware of cheap underperforming clones

As of 2022 there are many badly performing clones on the market. V2/3GHz NanoVNA uses parts like ADF4350 and AD8342 which are costly and clones have been cutting costs by using salvaged or reject parts.

See official store and look for V2 Plus4/V2 Plus4 Pro versions only to avoid getting a bad clone. We have stopped selling V2.2 versions since October 2020, so all V2 hardware that are not Plus or Plus4 are not made by us and we can not guarantee performance.

Isolation calibration

I'm wondering why the V2 doesn't have isolation calibration, where as the V1 does.

I only ask because I'm adding support for the V2 in NanoVNA-App and I'll be adding calibration routines too and me being me my curiosity gets the better of me.

I asked Gabriel, the V2 designer, about that at one time. She replied:

"The isolation calibration step is now done automatically during Short and Open calibration. There are two stored leakage coefficients, since leakage is a function of reflection coefficient on port 1. This allows better correction of leakage than only measuring leakage with port 1 terminated."

OK, thank you Herb. Nicer answer (don't ask) !

You might find this github repository of interest. It has a general discussion of the equations involved and the code to implement it.
