How can I tell if my NanoVNA v2.2 has a FPU?
Thanks Mike N2MS
Beware of cheap underperforming clones
As of 2022 there are many badly performing clones on the market. V2/3GHz NanoVNA uses parts like ADF4350 and AD8342 which are costly and clones have been cutting costs by using salvaged or reject parts.
See official store and look for V2 Plus4/V2 Plus4 Pro versions only to avoid getting a bad clone. We have stopped selling V2.2 versions since October 2020, so all V2 hardware that are not Plus or Plus4 are not made by us and we can not guarantee performance.

It's easy --> CONFIG--->VERSION
Has FPU: yes OR Has FPU:no
Vladimir
My V2.2 SAA-2N does not show a FPU. Shall I use use firmware V2 480x320 grid noFPU ?
Mike N2MS
You can use noFPU version in all cases (and change it if need later)
Thanks,
Mike N2MS
I loaded the V2 480x320 grid noFPU firmware unto my SAA-2N over Ojisankoubou firmware. The version now shows it has a FRU so I loaded V2 480x320 grip firmware.
I noticed you changed the DPU key to BOOTLOAD,
Thanks for the new firmware. I will be experimenting with this code.

I tested the fpu and nofpu versions and can not see any difference in
responsiveness or sweep speed, so I suggest all builds should be nofpu
just like the official firmware. None of the DSP code uses floating
point (the accuracy would be worse compared to 32 bit integer math).
It has been impossible for anyone to get GD32F303 with new datecodes for
quite a while now so there is no way to guarantee FPU support, but since
FPU seems to give no improvement in performance I think it should just
be turned off always.
Greetings Gabriel, is there another variation on the bridge setup to increase the dynamic range?
OK, guys. Forgive an old fossil analog and RF type dealing with all the
'new' acronyms. What is an FPU (Fast Processor Unit, or a few other less
polite phrases)?

Hello Dave!
FPU = I think, Floating Point Unit or?
Vladimir
dl7pga
FPU (Floating Point Unit) - a unit that performs floating point operations (often said as a comma) or a mathematical coprocessor. FPU helps the main processor to perform mathematical operations on real numbers. At first, it was used as an option, as an additional processor.
OK. I well remember the days of an additional math co-processor. Thank
you.

Flouting Point Unit, a mathematically oriented processor that gives more decimals in the calculations to the cost of speed.
