Beware of cheap underperforming clones

As of 2022 there are many badly performing clones on the market. V2/3GHz NanoVNA uses parts like ADF4350 and AD8342 which are costly and clones have been cutting costs by using salvaged or reject parts.

See official store and look for V2 Plus4/V2 Plus4 Pro versions only to avoid getting a bad clone. We have stopped selling V2.2 versions since October 2020, so all V2 hardware that are not Plus or Plus4 are not made by us and we can not guarantee performance.

Display config save slots ?

Silviu Isari 2020/12/14 05:40

Hi, is there any way at the moment to save/load  the display/traces/format  configuration ?
Let's say config for simple antenna measurement:
Trace0 - CH0 - SWR
Trace1 - CH0 - Resistance

Normally when I’ve done initial calibration ,there is a calibration recall menu save result in 0 save ,then other calibration frequency ranges ,in cal recall depending on VNA model 0-5 recall save slots as many as 7 on some ,even save options in Software hope this helps ,plenty of info on web just google your VNA model help ,Dave

if you save a config (sweep range, avg used, etc) it is also save what
traces you have set ... also what scale settings on each trace was used

as an example i build 13cm antennas (patch feeds) and so in one slot i
have set my sweep range and also have set that all 4 traces are from ch0 ...

you can use two memory slots .. say one for coarse tune and one for
finetune ... and in second slot set smith scaling to 0.2 (resolution
increased by 5) ... and also set swr for spreading the lower end (if you
are close to 1:1 swr)

each setting that you use ... can be saved in a memory slot ...

if you change a trace or trace scaling (but do not want to do a full
calibration again) then you can just click on calibrate ... and save (in
same slot you used before) and only that new trace scale is changed in
that slot (calibration stays valid)

try it out its just that simple :-)

Hi Siegfried,

Thank you so much for the hint it did indeed work through Calibrate -> Save -> Slot 0!
But I dont see any logic in having this functionality inside the  Calibrate menu ?!!
Calibration save slots should be (related) only for frequency ranges used at calibration process !
Thougt that Config - > Save is for this purpose to memorize Traces/Format/Channels ...

Its indeed simple but out of normal engineering thinking :)

Best regards,
Silviu

config/save is to configure and save touch screen setting and other
things but most things are stored not on config / save but calibration/ save

also traces (scaling and channel etc) is save in calibrate / save

so is frequency range, avg setting, number of points

even if you have not made any calibration at all ... but wanna set the
"bands" you use to different calibration slots you can safe them there
(say slot 1 is for 2m slot 2 is for 70cm etc etc) ... so band change is
easy done with "recall" of a slot

the reason to save also traces etc in the slots?? easy .. if you use
slot 1 for 2m and antenna checking then you can also set that second
trace (normally shows s21 or ch1/port2) is set to show swr (or whatever
you may think you need) on ch0/port1

in a few weeks you will not even think aout how that unit has to be used
:-) ... but just use it
